The living room and dining room are open and spacious. There is a TV, wifi, and a propane stove in the living room, with a sunset view over the water. The dining room is right off the deck, for the perfect space to have a family dinner.
The kitchen is equipped with all of the utensils, pots, pans, drip coffee maker, blender, etc that you will need. There is also extra seating for two at the island in the kitchen. The windows and open space allow you to be a part of the action while cooking dinner, or packing lunches for that hike.
The 2 bedrooms are on the main floor with the open concept living space.
Bedroom 1: Main bedroom with a closet, armoire, and a built in desk. The windows have black out curtains, and a water view. There is a brand new Heat pump/AC in the main bedroom!
Bedroom 2: Two twin beds, closet and bureau. The windows have black out curtains.
Bathroom: 1 bathroom with a tub/shower, and plenty of storage. Towels and all linens/pillows are provided.
Deck: Table and chairs are ready for your quiet enjoyment. There is a propane grill with propane supplied.
Downstairs: Washer/dryer, and a game room with a futon and a foosball table.
Outdoor shower: Wash off from the beach, or shower in the salt air! This is a great experience if you have not ever tried it.
There is a grocery store, bakery and restaurants within 3 miles from the house. Bar Harbor and Acadia National park trails are 12 miles from the house. You can rent kayak/paddleboards/canoes locally and have them delivered. Lobster pounds are within 3 miles, and many things to do. We loved our stay and would absolutely recommend. The home is welcoming and exactly as pictured. It’s the perfect home base to relax between activities. The location is great - it’s secluded and very quiet but an easy ride to get to Ellsworth and on to Mount Desert Island. We visited with our 4 and 8 year old. They loved their space and the basement. If you weren’t already planning on it, bring water shoes for the rocky beach. In response to a previous review - there are no concerns with the basement. Our kids spent time playing down there and we used the washing machine with zero complaints or concern. Thank you for a great stay!
We were very excited to stay here based on reviews and photos. We were a bit surprised at what we got. Partially due to property issues and partially due to incorrect expectations on our part. You are definitely paying for the convenient location in Maine and also to be ocean front. We felt the home was maybe a “fixer upper” with some quick fixes and things to improve appearance. (Like curtains for closet doors and rope for railings- quaint for some.) Our main complaint was the basement smelled strongly of mold and musty and therefore we could not use the washer/dryer or foosball table which were two of the top reasons we chose this property. (In addition to the ocean- note it cannot always be heard from the deck.) The odor permeated the entryway even with the door closed. Did not receive a response to this until checkout despite sending message through Airbnb after check-in. Guessing there was a flood at some point. Sounds like they will be looking into it and fixing the problem.
The view of the sunsets over the water was priceless. Retro feeling kitchen was fun and cute. We really loved the feel that this is a well loved family home.
